Choose Clinical Quality Antarcti-Krill
Not all krill oil is the same. Not all krill oil harvested from the same world region will offer the same results. There are currently no comparable published medical studies to prove the efficacy of krill products that are not derived from Euphausia superba. Advantig is the oldest supplier of Antarcti-Krill™ to integrative medical professionals in North America. Here's why - Markers of Quality
Phospholipid Content: In choosing krill oils, it is important to compare phospholipid content. Low phospholipid content is an indicator of degradation or decomposition of the krill, which can be the result of using a low quality krill meal or poor handling/manufacturing processes. Typically krill oil pressed from animal feed-grade starting material has a very low phospholipid content because the phospholipids have decomposed and the remaining phospholipids are unstable...which may be fine for animal feed, but we don’t support its use as a dietary supplement for humans because scientific evidence points to the phospholipids as the critical difference between krill oil and other marine lipids. A new study from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis found eating too many omega-6 fatty acids and not enough omega-3s can lead to weight gain that can pass on through generations (J Lipid Res. 2010 Aug;51(8):2352-61).The French researchers pointed out obesity has steadily increased over the last few decades. During this time, populations of industrialized Western countries have been exposed to diets rich in fat with a high content of the omega-6 linoleic acid and a low content of the omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid. Experts say human beings evolved on a diet with approximately a 1:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids (EFAs), whereas in Western diets, the ratio is 15:1 to 16.7:1. The authors concluded, “Thus, under conditions of genome stability and with no change in the regimen over four generations, we show that a Western-like fat diet induces a gradual fat mass enhancement, in accordance with the increasing prevalence of obesity observed in humans.” Antarctic Krill Oil Outperforms Fish Oil in Lipid Management*Studies show that individuals taking Antarctic Krill oil (Euphausia superba) experienced healthier LDL/HDL ratios than those taking fish oil in a controlled period of time. In fact, subjects taking only 1gm of Antarctic Krill oil (2 - 500mg softgels) and had a better lipid profile than those taking 3gm of fish oil. Antarctic Krill Oil is a superior choice for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels already in the normal range. Antarctic Krill Oil Used in Double-Blind Studies*Double blind placebo controlled studies have compared Antarctic Krill Oil to Fish oil and found Pure Antarctic Krill oil to be superior in these categories: Lipid Management, Joint Health & Menstrual Comfort. We've Done the Research & Evaluation For YouWhat You Need to KnowWhat makes krill oil so special is its phospholipid structure. What does this mean? It is the form of the Omega 3 essential fatty acids. Why is the form so important? In short, bioavailability. Phospholipids have greater bioavailability than triglycerides, which means your body uses them more efficiently. Here is a good example, both fish oil and krill oil contain Omega 3 EFAs, yet in the published clinical studies comparing fish oil to Krill oil, Krill oil is far more effective than fish oil. Why? It is believed that the Omega 3 fatty acids bound to the Krill oil phospholipids are responsible for its superiority over fish oil. For example, 500 mg of Krill oil was far more effective than 3,000 mg of fish oil when they were compared to each other in a clinical trial for lipid management. Compare Phospholipid ContentSo be careful in selecting your Antarctic Krill oil. Phospholipid content is very important. Some krill products may contain as little as 5mg of Phospholipids per 1,000 mg of Krill oil (that's only 0.5%). Advantig Antarcti-Krill contains a minimum of 400mg of Phospholipids per 1,000 mg of Krill oil or 40%...170 times the value! We guarantee it. Some aggressively marketed krill products do not even state the phospholipid content. Some companies offer 2 free with the purchase of 1. Now you know why. Why Sustainable Harvesting MattersThe bulk of the krill that is harvested from the oceans is converted into fish food for aquaculture so that the farmed salmon and shrimp have that lovely characteristic pink color. How does this relate to krill oil as a dietary supplement? Because cheaper krill oil products are generally derived from commodity krill, which is at the level of fish food quality. This explains why cheaper krill oil products have a lower phospholipid content. High phospholipid levels come from the highest quality krill (like Advantig Antarcti-Krill), which is far too costly to be used in aquaculture (as fish food) Extracting krill oil is a specialized process and you certainly get what you pay for. Advantig Antarcti-Krill oil is only extracted with food-grade ethanol which is more expensive, but as a company that serves health care practitioners, we believe the extra cost is well worth it. Other krill oil products may be extracted with acetone, ethyl-acetate and other chemical solvents. Companies selling these products don't disclose this fact. We're proud to say that our product is extracted from the high quality krill, using high quality food grade ethanol with the highest level of care. Careful processing is really important. We've discovered that some lesser quality krill products have unstable phospholipids, which means that they were likely processed from krill that had already begun decomposing. In this case, compromised or non-existent phospholipid content means that the Omega 3 fatty acids in their krill oil is no different than fish oil, so why pay the premium price for the same Omega 3s you can get from commodity fish oil? Antarcti-Krill™ is produced by a proprietary, low temperature extraction process and is harvested from the icy cold pristine waters of the Antarctic Ocean. Antarcti-Krill™ has been sustainably harvested under International treaties that protect the environment by regulating oceanic harvesting practices to help the ecosystem maintain a healthy, sustainable krill population. Antarctic Krill Oil Supports Healthy Joint Function & Mobility*Antarctic Krill Oil supports mobility and healthy joint function. A placebo-controlled study of 90 patients with increased levels of C-Reactive Protein (a marker of inflammation) showed that only 300 mg of Antarctic Krill Oil was a sufficient amount to elicit objective improvement in laboratory values and improved joint comfort and mobility within a period of 7-14 days. Antarcti-Krill™ provides 500 mg per softgel. For more information, please see: Journal of the American College of Nutrition, Volume 26, Number 1, 2007, p 39-48. Luisa Deutsch, MD, MSc. Antarctic Krill Oil Supports Menstrual Comfort*In a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study of 70 women, consumption of Antarctic Krill Oil was far more beneficial than fish oil in managing their premenstrual discomfort. For the first month, women in the Antarctic Krill Oil group took 2000 mg (4 softgels) daily for 30 days, then for the next two months they took 1000 mg (2 softgels) 8 days before and 2 days during their menstrual cycle. The article concludes: Antarctic Krill Oil can significantly improve menstrual comfort and is shown to be significantly more effective compared to omega-3 fish oil. For more information, please see: Altern Med Rev 2003;8(2)-171-179) Antarctic Krill Oil Offers Superior Antioxidant Capacity to Fish Oil*The level at which a nutrient functions as an antioxidant is important in evaluating its ability to quench free radicals. The USDA developed a test to measure antioxidant capacity of nutrients called the ORAC - "Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity" test. Antarctic Krill Oil proved to be the ultimate super fat soluble antioxidant - outscoring Vitamin E and Fish Oil by a wide margin. Pure Antarctic-Krill Oil stands alone as one of the highest ORAC value, fat-soluble natural source antioxidants available worldwide. Antarctic Krill contains high levels of the super antioxidant Astaxanthin which add to its antioxidant abilities. Fish oil does not. Don't Like to Taste Fish All Day - Then Try Reflux-Free Antarctic Krill Oil*Because of its unique phospholipid composition, Antarcti-Krill™ won't bother you after you take it because unlike fish oil which is a triglyceride (and not a phospholipid), Antarcti-Krill™ is reflux free. This is an important benefit for those who really don’t like to taste fish throughout the day - especially useful for sensitive individuals, the elderly and children. Antarcti-Krill™ Supports Healthy Brain Nutrition*The human brain has the highest density of phospholipid-rich membranes in the body. The high DHA content in krill oil phospholipids make it a superior choice to support healthy brain phospholipids and Omega-3 fatty acid balance. Antarcti-Krill™ oil naturally contains additional nutrients beneficial in supporting brain health, including vitamin E, Vitamin A, Beta Carotene and Astaxanthin. Antarcti-Krill™ is Highly Stable*Compared to other unsaturated fatty acids, krill oil is remarkably stable. To maintain integrity, essential fatty acids must be stored under refrigeration, in dark containers. By contrast, Antarcti-Krill™ oil retains its stability under high temperatures (97.8C) close to the boiling point of water, for over 48 hours!...this gives you assurance that it is stable and cannot easily rancidify like fish oil. Antarcti-Krill’s stability is just another way in which it is far superior to fish oil, which is far more perishable. Antarctic Krill Oil from Antarctica's Pristine Waters*If you are concerned about rising mercury levels in our marine environment, you are not alone. While fish oils are valuable for their Omega-3 essential fatty acids, Federal & international authorities are warning against consumption of large fish because of the marine contamination at this level in the food chain. By contrast, Krill are small marine crustaceans living at the bottom of the marine food chain. Best of all, unlike fish oil derived from predator species subject to bioaccumulation, Antarcti-Krill™ Omega-3 is at the bottom of the marine food chain. Antarcti-Krill's™ purity & unique source of natural phospholipids containing Omega-3 fatty acids makes Antarcti-Krill™ a superior essential fatty acid and antioxidant. Antarcti-Krill™ Provides Essential Fatty Acids: EPA & DHA*The Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), EPA & DHA are critical to the health and development of the brain and the body. Antarctic Krill oil contains 3 EPA & DHA-rich phospholipids as well as antioxidant protection from naturally occurring Vitamins A, E, Astaxanthin and marine flavonoids unique just to Antarctic Krill. Compared to Pacific krill, Antarctic Krill offers higher concentrations of Omega-3 EPA and DHA. Essential Fatty Acid (EFA) supplementation is so important because the body does not produce EFAs, it acts on them. EFAs are required for important biochemical reactions which occur when you consume EFAs, which then make:
Over time, you can notice the difference of proper Essential Fatty Acid supplementation by the appearance and feel of your skin, hair and nails as well as joint mobility. Role of EPA/DHA Phopholipids & Why is Choline So Important?*Choline is an essential nutrient that needs to be consumed to maintain health. The majority of the body's choline is found in specialized fat molecules known as phospholipids. Antarcti-Krill provides unique phospholipids which are involved in Structural integrity of cell membranes, nerve impulse transmission, cell signaling, Lipid (fat) transport and metabolism. For more technical information on choline, click here: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/othernuts/choline/ Antarcti-Krill™ is a good source of phosphatidylcholine, an important brain nutrient most commonly derived from soy.
